The 39th Annual Festival

Nature's Narrative
Saturday, October 20th 2007

This year will focus on three illustrators / authors who look to nature for information, inspiration, and illumination.  Barbara Bash, Carolyn Lesser, and Claudia McGehee keenly observe the natural world and bring their observations and inspirations to every project undertaken.  We welcome them to the 39th Annual Festival of Books for Young People!

The Festival

The festival brings together those who teach, write, and illustrate for young people with the purpose of collective discussion, education, and celebration.  Teachers, librarians, students, writers, and illustrators attend this one day festival hosted by the University of Iowa’s School of Library and Information Science.

The event itself is held at the Iowa Memorial Union located just north of the Main library.  Festival events include:

• Exhibit of hundreds of the best of the best in new books for young people
• Discount book sale
• Informational Booths from other University of Iowa departments
• Extensive bibliographies created to assist you in collection updating
• Afternoon book talks covering preschool, middle and young adult titles
• Raffle prizes!
