Here are several pictures I took while I was driving from Iowa City, Iowa through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. We took the northern route in New York through Buffalo, Niagara, Rochester, Albany, and ended up in Chatham, NY.

Chatham, NY is an area that has become a hiatus for "weekenders". Weekenders are people who drive into the country from "the city" (New York City) for relaxation. The towns in this area have become an interesting mix of townies and weekenders. It is still fairly pristine with nature and a great place to see animals in nature and hike the hills. Having lived a long time in the city, I've often spent time in these areas as a way to get away, spend some time outside, hike, bike, and see some nature.

On this trip I learned a lot about animals. Specifically that "farm animals" are not the same as "wild animals". Yes you can laugh at me because I know it's pretty silly, but I guess I assumed anything that wasn't a pet was considered "wild", apparently, they're considered domestic, who knew! ;-) I also saw a goose and an alpaca for the first time, got eggs out of a chicken house (i'm sure there's a better term for this, but I don't know it), and saw some baby deer.

The purpose of this trip was to help a friend of mine move her stuff to her parents house in Chatham because she's starting a masters program at Brooklyn College.
