Located in Philadelphia, PALINET, a non-profit membership organization serving over 600 libraries, information, and cultural institutions in the mid-Atlantic region, seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to establish the PALINET regional digitization operation, and then collaborate with members and business partners to broaden the array of digital services available to PALINET members. This is the opportunity to lead an emerging collaborative digitization program, and work with an exceptional team of PALINET members and staff, including some of the largest, most progressive digital library projects in the nation. Serve as project manager to coordinate our new large scale/mass digitization operation, which will be outsourced to a member or business partner; develop the business plan and build or procure services needed by members in the area of digital libraries and digitization; and serve as a consulting and training expert for members. The position reports to PALINET’s Director of New Initiatives.
Major Position Responsibilities:
• Coordinates PALINET mass digitization project.
• Researches, develops, implements and promotes digitization programs and projects as determined by members’ needs.
• Provides consultation and referral services to PALINET members on digital issues.
• Works closely with PALINET digitization business partners to offer products and solutions; including developing projects based on member collections.
• Plans and implements PALINET’s digitization educational programs.
• Represents PALINET in the mid-Atlantic and national digital library community.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge of digital library and information standards and best practices, including digital imaging production, metadata schemas, content management, digital preservation strategies, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of content management systems, digital repositories, and legal issues impacting digitization.
• Demonstrated experience in program and project development, implementation, and management.
• Strong collaboration, networking, and negotiation skills.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability and desire to work within a team environment and independently.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development, particularly within the digital environment.
• ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or a Master’s degree in Information Management preferred.

Salary negotiable, dependent on qualifications; TIAA-CREF with organization contribution; outstanding benefits.
