The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for the position of Director of Library Operations/Automation. This senior level position is responsible for leading the library’s efforts in presenting state-of-the-art automated services for the benefit of users. The successful candidate will manage Network Services, Ordering and Receiving, Access and Metadata, and Licensing and Electronic Resources. This position is administers a wide range of library technologies in support of the achievement of university and library strategic goals. Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS. Minimum of four years experience in libraries. Evidence of successful supervisory experience. Experience with integrated library systems (ILS). Working knowledge of XHTML/HTML and CSS, as required to supervise technical staff. Demonstrated competency in managing Web design and maintenance. Knowledge of current and developing information technologies, and a basic understanding of their impact on libraries. Demonstrated ability to establish goals, set reasonable time frames for accomplishing tasks, and effectively meet deadlines. Ability to undertake concurrent multiple tasks. Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, communication and written skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of students, staff and faculty. Must be flexible and capable of working successfully individually as well as in teams in a changing library environment. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications: Experience with Innovative Interfaces Inc. integrated library systems. Familiarity with providing public service and/or reference experience in an academic library. Basic understanding of relational databases, core Internet technologies, and TCP/IP networking. Successful project management in a collaborative environment. Knowledge of desktop, course management and internet applications, particularly Blackboard.
