Raynor Memorial Libraries seek an innovative and dynamic librarian with strong leadership and managerial skills. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, this position manages a department of seven librarians and nine support staff; sets policy for monographic acquisitions and cataloging, metadata creation, authority control, database maintenance, and physical processing of library materials; responds to and anticipates user needs; plans for future activities and projects in accordance with new developments in resource discovery; serves as a member of Administrative Council; and collaborates with colleagues in library-wide planning, budgeting, and policy development.
Requirements: ALA-accredited master’s degree; 5 years’ (minimum) managerial experience in technical services in an academic or research library; knowledge of standards, trends, and best practices in acquisitions, cataloging, and digital collection metadata creation; experience supervising full time staff; experience with ILS cataloging modules; demonstrated leadership skills and experience with planning; ability to interact effectively with a broad range of staff within the library, the university, and in collaborative initiatives with other institutions; excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills; commitment to diversity; record of professional activity. Preferred: Experience supervising professional staff; experience with ILS acquisitions modules; experience managing digital projects. Appointment will be made at the Associate Librarian or Librarian rank.
