Professional position available immediately. Responsibilities: provide expertise, leadership, management, and supervision for activities that facilitate intellectual, virtual, and physical access to the University Libraries’ traditional, electronic, and digital collections. Minimum qualifications: MLS/MLIS/MIS degree from an ALA accredited program at time of appointment; at least three years of experience in a cataloging/metadata unit, including supervisory responsibilities; cataloging experience with a variety of formats and all levels of complexity using AACR2rev, LCSH, LC classification and rule interpretations, MARC formats, OCLC, and an integrated library system (e.g., Sirsi/Dynix); experience with/knowledge of Dublin Core or other metadata schemas, standards, and protocols; working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications; organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills; ability to work constructively with colleagues in an environment of continuous changes; effective oral and written communication skills. Assignment may require working some evenings and/or weekends. Preferred qualifications: additional advanced degrees; cataloging/metadata experience in an academic library setting; knowledge of emerging trends in resource description, such as FRBR, RDA, and evolving technologies especially those related to digital libraries and discovery tools. Salary: $51,000 to $55,000 plus excellent benefits.
