Key responsibilities include:

· Provides reference service to library customers of all ages using print and computer resources.
· Assumes a major role in the planning and development of overall technology and maintenance of library systems.
· Develops and maintains all of the Library's public and internal Web pages.
· Classifies and catalogs print, media, computer and other materials.
· Designs, manages and provides instruction to library staff and customers of all ages on new technologies and computer resources.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

· Be hardworking, self-motivated and customer service oriented.
· Have detailed knowledge of Web-based tools, design, applications and techniques.
· Have the ability to classify and catalog library print and electronic resources.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of library customers and staff, and contribute to a successful team effort.

Minimum requirements:

· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) (must provide a copy of degree or transcript upon date of hire). OR

· Have a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a minimum of 9-semester or 14-quarter units of Library Science education, which must be creditable toward the completion of an MLS degree and 2½ years of full-time experience as a library paraprofessional.
· Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends.
· Initial appointment to Librarian II level may be considered based on candidate's qualifications and department requirements.

Salary Range: Librarian I: $3,664 - $4,454 per month; Librarian II: $4,044 - $4,916 per month, plus an outstanding benefits package.  Benefits may vary by bargaining unit or group, but all regular employees receive the following generous benefit package:
