Faculty Opening. The University of Virginia Library seeks an innovative, energetic individual to provide vision and direction for digital services for the Charles L. Brown Science & Engineering Library, including the management of the Research Computing Lab.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Science, Engineering and Education Services, the Librarian for Digital Services is responsible for coordinating digital services, serving as a liaison for University faculty interested in digital projects, working with units throughout to establish tools and services appropriate for science and engineering clientele. Analyzes and investigates hardware and software needs, digital issues, and project workflows within the Brown Science & Engineering Library. Supervises the Research Computing Lab (RCL) Manager and other staff working in the RCL. Coordinates and leads outreach services for the RCL. Qualifications: Master’s degree in library science or a relevant field and experience in an academic setting required. An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in science, engineering, mathematics or business is preferred but not required. Experience using standard desktop computing software packages, particularly spreadsheets required and knowledge of HTML, XML, Javascript, Perl, MySQL, and/or related web programming languages highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits: Competitive depending on qualifications. This position has general faculty status with excellent benefits, including 22 days of vacation and TIAA/CREF and other retirement plans.
