Application

We invite applications from students of all backgrounds for admissions to the M.A. in Library and Information Science with the specialized track in digital librarianship.

Fellowships will be awarded to students who clearly articulate career interests and goals related to digital libraries and services. Preference will be given to those who have a background in computing/ information technology. The School encourages interested individuals from Native American, African-American, Latino(a) and Hispanic communities to apply for this unique educational opportunity.

In June 2007, the first cohort of ten fellows was admitted into the M.A. program in Library and Information Science with digital libraries as the specialized track.  The next cohort of ten fellows will be admitted in June 2008.  Each fellowship offers approximately $24,000 per calendar year along with fringe benefits.  The School of Library and Information Science funds these fellowships through a grant awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  Students will be required to contribute about 20 hours per week throughout their program of study to digital project work.

Prospective applicants should follow the guidelines for application posted on the School's web site.  In addition to the application guidelines specified by the school, fellowship applicants are expected to submit a second statement of purpose, which is described below.  This statement is limited to two, single-spaced pages.
