- IMLS DL Fellow Mark Anthoney presented a poster titled "Real Life Learning in Second Life" at 4Cast 2008 Workshop "Social Networking -- Opportunities & Impact on Teaching & Learning" organized by Center for Teaching - ITS - The University of Iowa Libraries. - Jill Wehrheim's project "Civil War Diaries" is now profiled on the U Iowa Digital Library Services Website. Take a look at the almost 1600 pages of fragile materials that she has digitized and organized with metadata for the collection. (December 2007)
- IMLS DL Fellow Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez and SLIS student Jared Price are co-authors on an extended abstract titled "Building "living documents" with XML in support of audience customization" that has been accepted for presentation at DOCAM 2008. (March 2008)
- IMLS DL Fellow Mark Anthoney's Second Life project was featured on the UI Daily Palette on January 28, 2008.

Events
- Lorcan Dempsey, Vice President and Chief Strategist for OCLC, presented "The Network Reconfigures the Library" at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 21. The talk was held in the Senate Chamber of the Old Capitol and was sponsored by the University Libraries' Speaker Program. (February 14, 2008)
- IMLS DL Fellow Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez demonstrated her XML project to the Hesperian Foundation. The project resulted in an XML version of the "Where there is No Doctor" book with audio and customized images. (January 14, 2008)
- As part of his digital project, IMLS DL Fellow Mark Anthoney conducted the "Inaugural reading by Kate Thorpe in Second Life". Details available through Mark's web site. (December 14, 2007)
- "Show and Tell Session": Students of Cohort 1 presented their digital library projects to projects to mentors, SLIS faculty and others. (December 19, 2007)
