Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Library Collections, oversees the development and day-to-day operations of the Aviation Safety and Security Archive (ASASA). Manages the onsite repository of unique, unpublished manuscript collections and hard-to-find documents, including inventory, description, processing, digitization and preservation, and maintaining accepted archival standards. Oversees the development and maintenance of a web-based portal to aviation safety and security information, including assessment of currently held documents for digitization, import or linking to information outside the University, and insuring optimal searching, storage, and access to the digital content collected. Fosters relations with faculty, industry, and government agencies to enhance use and recognition of collections and services. Supervises ASASA student employees. Develops and implements policies and procedures. Maintains statistics and produces reports. Assists with organizing the Special Collections in the Hazy Library. Assists with the planning for a new facility for ASASA. Required: Masters degree from an ALA accredited library program or Master of Archival Science. Minimum of 3 years professional experience in academic library special collections. Graduate-level coursework in archival administration, and knowledge of current archival and digitization practices and standards including APPM, EAD, DACS, XML, copyright limitations. Experience with database management and Web design. Strong commitment to innovative and effective service.
