SLIS student Kellee Forkenbrock has been featured in a case study for her work obtaining a grant from the American Library Association's Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries initiative. Kellee currently works at the North Liberty Public Library as a Public Services Librarian. With the ALA funding, she was was able to start a quarterly conversation series at NLPL, Lighthouse in the Library. The series gives community members a space to discuss social issues. Kellee notes that the grant "has given us an opportunity to create something lifelong for this library […] It has given us a platform to empower our patrons to speak to us about different issues.”
