The second 2025-2026 School of Library and Information Science Professional Development Series “Professional Growth Through Personal Engagement” event features Audrey Altman on “A Path from Libraries to Ed Tech.” A SLIS alumna (‘14), Altman is a software engineer at Khan Academy, an ed-tech nonprofit. She builds software to support teachers, including AI tools. Before working at Khan Academy, Audrey spent nine years as a software engineer at the Digital Public Library of America. There, she worked on metadata aggregation, curation tools for educators, and machine learning. Pulling from her experience at Khan Academy and the Digital Public Library or America, Altman will discuss her career, how she markets herself and keeps skills competitive, and how information science professionals can leverage library training in industry settings.
