Dr. Mikki Smith: UIowa SLIS 2025 Professional Growth Through Personal Engagement Series promotional image

Mikki Smith started working in libraries in 2002. She earned an MLS and a Certificate in Book Studies from the University of Iowa in 2007, and a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 2017. She has worked in public, academic, museum, and hospital libraries. She currently supervises library services for Guthrie, a rural integrated health system in PA/NY, and manages its open access general medical journal. She is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the Geisinger College of Health Sciences and is starting a three-year term on the editorial board of the Journal of the Medical Library Association.
