Natalie Milbrodt serves as the inaugural University Archivist for the City University of New York (CUNY), the largest urban public university in the US, where she is leading a three-year survey of archival collections across CUNY's 25 campuses and implementing strategies and systems for increased collection discovery and use. In this presentation, she will share some preliminary findings about the university's fascinating (and massive) collections along with some of her observations as a community archivist working for the first time in higher education. Active in the Oral History Association's Metadata Working Group and co-founder of the Community Archiving Happy Hour and the NYC Neighborhood Oral History meet-up group, Natalie enjoys bridging communities of people who care about libraries, School of Library archives, and history. Join us to explore the ways Community Archiving and Information Science strategies and approaches can inform project design and provide tools for excellent collaboration.
