I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Lucy Santos Green has accepted our offer to serve as the next Director of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Iowa!

Dr. Green comes to us from the University of South Carolina where she was a professor in the School of Information Science. Her research explores the role of the school librarian as an instructional designer and partner, and she has a national profile in leadership as the incoming ALISE president.

Dr. Green began her role as Director this January with Dr. Burek Pierce graciously agreeing to serve as Associate Director through the Spring 2023 to facilitate this leadership transition. Please join me in thanking Dr. Burek Pierce for her strong and steady leadership as Interim Director of SLIS and for her continued leadership as she takes on the role of Associate Director. Stepping into an interim role is no small task and taking it on with real commitment, as she has done, illustrates a deep devotion to her colleagues and community. Thank you, Dr. Burek Pierce.

Please join me in giving Dr. Green a warm and heartfelt welcome to the School of Library and Information Science and to the University of Iowa. I am excited for the energy and innovation she will bring to our community as we look toward the future!
