Biography

Katie teaches College & University Libraries for SLIS and is an Undergraduate Engagement Librarian with the University of Iowa Libraries.

Blending theory, discussion, and guest lectures, College & University Libraries focuses on the praxis of academic librarianship – the way theories and ideas are applied and embodied in the day to day work of librarians. Students have the chance to explore different types of academic librarianship and develop a preparedness for engaging the complexities of academic library work as it compliments and progresses the goals of higher education.

As Undergraduate Engagement Librarian, Katie works closely with academic and student support initiatives to develop programs and services in support of student success. She coordinates library instruction and develops information literacy materials in collaboration with course faculty and instructors. Her research interests include: information literacy, critical pedagogy, public participation in science and scholarship, and creative and equitable assessment.
