We are so excited to get to spotlight another 2025 alum, Anna Luria, who currently works at our very own UIowa Law Library. Her career journey so far has felt very fast-paced, with her 2024 internship turning into a full-time job a year later. Her job has been incredibly rewarding, with the environment leading to very satisfying problem-solving opportunities. She really enjoys getting to work closely with both tech services and reference librarians and is motivated directly by the knowledge that she’s making students' lives easier by making resources more accessible. 

Luria sees SLIS as a direct stepping stone in her career journey:  “During my year at SLIS a law librarian gave a presentation as part of the professional development series and, emboldened by his presentation, I reached out about any internship law librarianship internship opportunities he was aware of. He connected me with the assistant director of the law library, who offered me an internship, and now I'm here!”

Anna Luria also recommends taking the Cataloging & Classification course, claiming its been very helpful for her current position: “I look at MARC records a lot more than I was anticipating and work closely with the Cataloging & Metadata Librarian, so having the foundational knowledge of how to understand and create MARC records from that class has been crucial.”
